“Ambedo” is a zine that dives into the subtle, often overlooked emotion of
melancholic contemplation—those quiet mornings where the coffee steam dances into the air, the sound of raindrops gently hitting the window, the way the wind rustles through your hair, the feeling of butterflies in your stomach when you’re with someone you love. Through a blend of visual art and collage poetry, the zine explores what it means to experience ambedo, and how it’s presented to us in our everyday lives. The incorporation of aesthetically softer images and color palettes emphasizes the gentleness of living in the moment, and experiencing that complete absorption of melancholic emotion when paying attention to small visual or sensory details. Each page is an experiment of a mixture of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign tools. My choice in specific page layouts was an attempt to evoke a sense of connection between visuals and text, elevating the storytelling aspects while maintaining a creative rhythm. Selecting photographs, illustrations, and textures that embody the theme of ambedo’s definition help capture both the quiet beauty and melancholic aspect of simplicity.
